Why Summer Reading?Summer reading ensures that students retain the information they were taught over the previous year by having them demonstrate their skills in project form. It also helps them prepare for the following year of English classes.

College ReadinessHere at SHS, we want our students to be ready for what the world holds outside of high school. We want them to be ready to enter the work force or go to college, so we have implemented programs and strategies to make this a reality. Summer reading has statistically shown that it improves standardized test scores and the scores on college entrance exams.
